Full Stack Developer, Melbourne

Home / Jobs Available / Full Stack Developer, Melbourne

Great opportunity for a mid level Full Stack Software Engineer to broaden their skill set off the back of a program of change which has seen this CBD based digital company transform it’s architecture from a monolithic to microservices approach.

The last two to three years have seen considerable experimentation both with languages and configuration tools where they are now writing microservices in Docker containers, deploying to AWS and automating as much as possible with server provisioning for the DevOps part of the cross functional dream.

Whilst the main stack still has remnants of PHP, there is heaps of other stuff to keep you ticking over and excited. For the front end, naturally lots of JavaScript and jQuery, Node, Angular, Grunt, Bower for build and package management along with various components written in Python, Go and some Ruby.

Assessing new libraries and frameworks like React.js is an ongoing thing.

Culturally and technically there is no tick box or bullet point fit for this role but very broadly you should be or consider yourself to be a full stack developer with at least a curiosity for configuration management, DevOps and build automation.

Perhaps you have not had the chance yet to look at Docker in anger so have had to settle for creating images in your own time.

It would be great if your goto language was either Python, Ruby or PHP – or a mix, but you’ll need to love the front end too and enjoy the superhero powers of AngularJS and it’s capabilities.

As you can tell, the technical challenges for this role will be varied and will allow you to test what you already know whilst discovering from others what you do not, from building interfaces or engine features to setting up continuous delivery pipelines and becoming more familiar with AWS products.
